# Hyggear DermaRestore public funnel audit

**Audit date:** 2026-07-25
**Scope:** Public pages only. No purchase, checkout submission, personal data, or payment data entered.
**Overall risk:** High. The funnel has material offer-continuity, claim-substantiation, and guarantee-disclosure gaps.

## Executive summary

The public journey does not present one stable offer:

- Long-form advertorials and landing pages promote 50% off, sometimes “up to 60% off,” at **$28.45**, plus a **90-day** guarantee.
- The standard DermaRestore PDP shows **$59.83**, no visible discount, and “Only -42 left in stock.” Other DermaRestore PDPs show “Out of stock.”
- Marketing pages sell use on the **face and neck**, while the official instructions for “DermaRestore for Crepey Skin” say **“Do not apply to the face”** and “Use only on the body.”
- Marketing language says “refund every penny” and “no questions, no hassle,” while the refund policy says opened, applied, or used DermaRestore products cannot be returned/refunded and sale items are generally non-refundable.
- A public advertorial URL contains `google` and `quiz`, but the page renders as a story/article with no visible quiz questions or answer path. Ad disclosure and quiz-stage continuity could not be confirmed from the public page.

## Funnel map and continuity

| Stage | Public evidence | Risk / implication |
|---|---|---|
| Ad / acquisition | No standalone ad creative was identifiable from public pages. A public advertorial URL includes `...google-63278234674-quiz`, but the page content is an article. | Medium. The acquisition source, ad promise, and disclosure cannot be matched. |
| Advertorial | “How I Finally Got Rid of My Crepey Skin” uses a first-person story, “limited-time discount,” “exclusive 50% discount,” and “90 days guarantee.” CTA links to the product page. | High. It reads like editorial/testimonial content, but no clear ad/sponsored disclosure was visible in the extracted page text. |
| Long-form offer page | $28.45 after 50% discount, free shipping, “22k+ bought in past month,” 90-day guarantee, and “out of stock” on the linked product page. | High. Price and availability are not stable, and urgency is repeated even when the linked PDP is unavailable. |
| Standard PDP | One DermaRestore PDP shows $59.83 with no discount and a negative stock count (“Only -42 left in stock”). Another indexed DermaRestore PDP shows $28.45 but “Out of stock.” | Critical. A user can enter from different pages and see materially different price and availability. |
| Checkout | No live checkout was entered. Public PDP text showed “Out of stock” on the promoted DermaRestore variants, so checkout price/recurring terms could not be safely verified without attempting a purchase flow. | High. Final price, shipping, tax, payment cadence, and cancellation language remain unverified. |

## Findings

### 1. Price and offer discontinuity, High

Evidence:

- Standard product page: **$59.83**, no visible discount. [Standard DermaRestore PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-374561735413443)
- Long-form product page: **$59.83 crossed out, $28.45, 50% discount**, plus free shipping. [Promotional PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-for-crepey-skin?variant=54696156528908)
- Advertorial: “exclusive 50% discount” and “up to 50% off.” [Crepey-skin advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/advertorial-v5-hyggear-miracle-balm-crepey-skin-product-page-v3-google-63278234674-quiz)
- Another advertorial says “Save Up to 60% Today,” while its lower CTA says “up to 50% OFF.” [Balm advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/this-simple-balm-is-changing-how-aging-skin-looks-here-are-7-reasons-why-4536521436283)

Impact: The same product family can be presented at $59.83 or $28.45, with 50% or up to 60% off. This is a direct message-match and pricing-transparency problem.

### 2. Availability and urgency conflict, High

Evidence:

- Standard PDP says “Please hurry! Only -42 left in stock.” [Standard PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-374561735413443)
- Promotional DermaRestore PDP renders “Out of stock” while still showing “LIMITED STOCK PROMO ENDS SOON,” “22k+ bought in past month,” and “Order Now.” [Promotional PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-for-crepey-skin?variant=54696156528908)
- The advertorial says “Hurry, Limited Time Offer!” and “CHECK AVAILABILITY.” [Crepey-skin advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/advertorial-v5-hyggear-miracle-balm-crepey-skin-product-page-v3-google-63278234674-quiz)

Impact: Scarcity and social-proof counters remain visible alongside an unavailable product. That can create a false sense of immediate availability and urgency.

### 3. Face-use versus body-use contradiction, Critical

Evidence:

- Marketing page: “Ideal for areas where wrinkles show most — face and neck,” and the FAQ says it can be applied to the face and neck. [Balm offer page](https://hyggear.com/pages/dermarestore-balm-74638456139613)
- Standard product copy says face, neck, décolleté, and body. [Standard PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-374561735413443)
- Official instructions say: “Do not apply to the face,” “Avoid applying it to the face, eye area, lips,” and “Use only on the body.” [Instructions](https://hyggear.com/pages/instructions-hyggear-dermarestore-for-crepey-skin)

Impact: A customer following the advertorial can use the product in a way the official instructions prohibit. This is both a safety/compliance risk and a severe message-match failure.

### 4. Guarantee and returns are materially inconsistent, Critical

Evidence:

- Marketing pages promise “Smoother-Looking Skin in 60 Days — Or Your Money Back,” “100% Satisfaction, 90 Days Guarantee,” and “refund every penny — no questions, no hassle.” [Balm offer page](https://hyggear.com/pages/dermarestore-balm-74638456139613)
- The product PDP says a customer can request a full refund within 90 days. [DermaRestore Balm PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-dermarestore-balm-2837682165781)
- The refund policy says returns must generally be requested within 14 days of receipt, DermaRestore cannot be returned/refunded once opened, unsealed, tested, applied, or used, and sale/promotional items are generally non-refundable. [Refund policy](https://hyggear.com/policies/refund-policy)

Impact: “Try it risk-free” and “results or your money back” imply the consumer may use the skincare product and still qualify. The policy says the opposite. The governing eligibility rule is not made clear at the point of offer.

### 5. Unsupported or high-risk performance and authority claims, High

Examples observed:

- “91% of users” reported smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
- “95%,” “96%,” and “97%” results on another advertorial, attributed to an “eight-week independent customer panel” without panel details.
- “4.8/5” and “3150+ Reviews,” “100,000+ Real Satisfied Customers,” and “22k+ bought in past month.”
- “Targets the root causes,” supports collagen/elasticity, “visible results in seconds,” and “Cheaper Than Botox (Works Better Than $300 Creams).”
- “Dermatologists Surprised” headline and “Dr. Jonathan Clark, Licensed Doctor of Medicine” endorsement block.

Evidence: [Balm offer page](https://hyggear.com/pages/dermarestore-balm-74638456139613), [Balm advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/this-simple-balm-is-changing-how-aging-skin-looks-here-are-7-reasons-why-4536521436283), [Crepey-skin advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/advertorial-v5-hyggear-miracle-balm-crepey-skin-product-page-v3-google-63278234674-quiz)

Impact: The pages do not expose methodology, sample size, dates, substantiation, or the doctor’s relationship to the product. “Works better than Botox” is especially high-risk comparative language.

### 6. Quiz and advertorial disclosure / continuity gap, Medium to High

Evidence:

- The public URL ends in `-quiz` and includes `google`, but the visible page is a first-person advertorial with “Comments,” product CTAs, and no visible quiz questions or outcome logic. [Advertorial](https://hyggear.com/pages/advertorial-v5-hyggear-miracle-balm-crepey-skin-product-page-v3-google-63278234674-quiz)
- The article says “I can’t promise the same results for everyone,” but its surrounding page still uses strong testimonials, scarcity, and performance claims.

Impact: A visitor cannot tell whether this is an ad, sponsored advertorial, editorial content, or a quiz funnel. The page also lacks a visible handoff explaining why this product and price are being recommended.

### 7. Subscription disclosure and checkout terms, Medium, unverified on DermaRestore

Public DermaRestore pages reviewed did not visibly show recurring-charge language. The same storefront does expose explicit recurring/deferred-purchase language on some toe-product PDPs, which means the Shopify setup can surface that disclosure when applicable. [Example storefront PDP](https://hyggear.com/products/hyggear%E2%84%A2-toe-separators)

Because DermaRestore variants were publicly shown as out of stock and no purchase was attempted, I did not verify the final checkout. Treat cadence, cancellation terms, shipping charges, taxes, and any post-purchase continuity as **unverified**, not as confirmed absent.

### 8. Tracking and consent, Medium, unverified

The advertorial URL itself contains campaign-style identifiers (`google` and `quiz`). The public text view did not expose a consent banner, tracker inventory, or event behavior. I did not submit forms or enter data, so no conversion, email, or checkout event was tested.

Recommended verification: inspect the rendered page and network calls in a consent-aware browser session, compare pre-consent and post-consent tags, and verify that advertorial CTA clicks preserve source/campaign parameters into the PDP and checkout.

## What passed

- Advertorial CTAs do link to a DermaRestore product page, so the basic product handoff exists.
- Public refund/contact pages are reachable and identify `feelgreat@hyggear.com`.
- Product instructions include patch/use cautions such as stopping if redness, burning, or irritation occurs.

## Priority actions

1. Choose one authoritative SKU, price, discount, inventory state, intended body area, and guarantee. Render the same values on ad, advertorial, PDP, cart, and checkout.
2. Resolve the face/body contradiction immediately. If the product is body-only, remove face/neck claims from every acquisition page. If face use is intended, replace the body-only instructions with validated labeling.
3. Rewrite guarantee copy to match the refund policy, including unopened/unused conditions, deadlines, sale-item treatment, and return shipping responsibility.
4. Remove or substantiate comparative, medical-adjacent, authority, customer-count, survey, and “bought in past month” claims. Add methodology and disclosures where retained.
5. Run a controlled checkout QA pass with a non-purchasing test path to verify final price, subscription status, shipping, taxes, cancellation, and tracking consent behavior.

## Limitations

This audit used publicly indexable page content and direct public URLs as of 2026-07-25. No personal data, payment data, purchase, or checkout submission was used. The live ad creative, rendered browser network requests, final checkout totals, and consent-state tag behavior remain unverified.
